THE MATERIAL WOMAN

ART x FASHION exhibition, THE MATERIAL WOMAN, pays homage to the enduring spirit and artistic prowess of female creatives from the Arab world, who use their hands to carve out new shapes within the cultural landscape to dismantle, reconstruct, and create anew.

Curated by 3EIB and HAYATY DIARIES, the exhibition will showcase the work of: YASMINA HILAL, CELINE DAGHER, ZAYN QAHTANI, NADINE MOS, HANYA ELGHAMRY and HANAN SHARIFA.

A special PERFORMANCE PIECE curated by ALIA HAMAOUI and FADI GIHA will be debuted at the exhibition launch, exploring the theme of materiality through movement, in response to the garments and fabrics displayed throughout the exhibition.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES

ALIA HAMAOUI – Multidisciplinary Artist delving into the realm of performance art, debuted as part of ASWAT commissions. Aiming to advance our understanding of the interrelationship between the object and place, Hamaoui re-examines SWANA histories through a contemporary lens.

FADI GIHA – A Syrian contemporary dancer and choreographer, born and raised in Damascus. His choreographic language is derived from movement experiments around the emotional connection with our bodies and how they’re impacted by social constraints and constructions, body image, and self-perception.

YASMINA HILAL – Lebanese Fashion/Mixed Media Photographer and Experimental Filmmaker, Yasmina’s practice is characterised by a strong emphasis on collaging with various mediums and incorporating non-conventional objects.

CELINE DAGHER – Lebanese Jewellery Designer Celine Dagher specialises in avant-garde 3D design. Influenced by her heritage and the vibrant underground creative scene in Lebanon, Celine is motivated to revolutionise the industry.

ZAYN QAHTANI – Bahraini Artist working across drawing, painting and sculpture, Zayn’s body of work serves as a diligent effort to archive a personal, synesthetic archeological practice.

NADINE MOS – Egyptian Womenswear Designer and Sculptor honouring the female form. Her work evokes a sense of ‘home’, taking elements of her heritage to disseminate stories that are personal yet approachable.

HANYA ELGHAMRY – Egyptian Multidisciplinary Visual Artist and Curator, working across painting, photography, installation, video, and augmented reality to explore themes of soft power, memory, and cultural identity through storytelling.

HANAN SHARIFA – Based in Brooklyn, Hanan is a Moroccan designer who infuses fantasies into fabrics, creating purposeful garments for dreamers, creatives, and statement-makers.

Together, we will dismantle, reconstruct, and create anew.
